San Francisco - A city of contrasts and unforgettable moments
San Francisco had long been on my bucket list, and it more that lived up to expectations. Visited as part of a multi-centre trip, beginning in Las Vegas and ending in Mexico, it was the place that stayed with me longer after the trip ended.
From the moment you arrive, everything feels iconic. The streets, the views, the waterfront and the instantly recognisable Golden Gate Bridge. It's a city that feels familiar, yet experiencing it in person is something entirely different.
The waterfront area around Pier 39 offers a lively introduction, with sea lions basking in the sun and views stretching across the bay. From here, a visit to Alcatraz adds a completely different dimension, both fascinating and atmospheric, with striking views back towards the city skyline.
Chinatown brings another layer of character, full of colour, energy and incredible food, offering a glimpse into a very different side of San Francisco.
One of the most memorable experiences is riding the historic cable cars. More than just transport, they capture the spirit of the city and offer a unique way to take in its hills, neighbourhoods and views.
